Happy Heart

Hey Everyone!!
Well, the saying has always been, "Cool Hands, Warm Heart". Well, in our family, we make Happy Hearts!!
Our family friend, who is also Hannah's usual babysitter, has a birthday coming up...and it is on Valentine's Day! I asked Hannah what she wanted to buy Joanne for her birthday, and she said that she wanted to make her a heart...so out came my needles.
I gave Hannah three choices of yarn colors, and she picked the bright red. She also approved the pattern, selected the button, and came shopping with me to pick out the perfect potpourri to fill it with.
So, here is our version of Lavender Hearts, by Debbie Orr.
I had some trouble at first with the cast on, since you only cast on one stitch. I busted out one of my trusty knitting books and figured out how to do a slip-knot cast on. Man...that was tricky!! I also used the backwards loop increase, since it seemed to work best. The pattern author didn't specify what type of increase to use.
This is a great last-minute project...it only took me a few hours to finish...and most of that was trying to figure out the cast on.

Here's Hannah showing off our masterpiece...she wasn't in the mood to smile...so this is what you get!!

And here she is smelling the lavender we put inside. She was a big fan...and the added bonus...the lavender was purple!! That scores BIG points in her mind!!!
So, that's what we've been up to. Today we're coloring cards and tomorrow we're going to be painting Daddy's Valentine's Day gift...stay tuned for photos!!!
Have a great day!!
Cheers!
Sharon
